Emotional Intelligence

We thrive on connection and some even say we are hard wired for connection, yet it can seem so hard to do when you need it most and especially at work when everyone is so focused on their goals. Empathy is the missing link. Emotional Intelligence is required not only to fully understand what it is like to be in someone else’s shoes but to understand what motivates others and find common ground for cooperation. Emotional Intelligence helps you to sustain a good relationship and be succesful in business.

What is this workshop like?

In this workshop we will focus on the skill of active listening, identifying how people feel, what motivates them and how to find common ground. I will introduce you to some of the theory that will help you understand what is influencing your behavior. Then a demo will follow the theory and next you will get to practice in two’s or little groups to get the feel of it yourself. Practicing these skills this day will make you feel more confident in applying what you have learned outside this workshop. At the end of every topic we’ll do an evaluation to share what we’ve learned and answer any questions.

Professor in psychology Carl Rogers said about his experience with empathy:

“When someone really hears you without passing judgement on you, without taking responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels so good.  When I have been listened to, when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and go on.  It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens.  How confusions that seem irremediable become relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard.”

Trainings and workshops that do not appear on the current agenda are offered by request to groups or in corporations.
