Showing yourself
A ‘good’ relationship is not a relationship in which there are no conflicts, but a relationship in which conflicts are openly dealt with and discussed. Through this process of open communication trust between people increases and this helps them to move beyond the conflict. I also call this the necessary shifting of gears in the gearbox of the relationship. Shifting gears is necessary if you want to safely arrive at your destination and feel good about the journey. Once you become aware that a relationship is always in flux instead of being static you start to accept the premise. Shifting gears is not only a thought process but also something that requires action. Change is inevitable and requires that we constantly evaluate our agreements and expectations so that we can effectively deal with the ongoing realities of life. The willingness to show yourself and accept responsibility for your part in this creates the necessary conditions for a healthy relationship with others.
